Weekend Agenda

summer.jpgTGITW.  It’s Summer in the City and Columbus has plenty to offer this weekend (click on highlighted links for additional information).

Sip:  The North Market Ohio Food and Wine Festival pairs great food with wine from 15 of Ohio’s 100-plus wineries.  Activities also include live music, a Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Craft Fair on Sunday, and cooking demonstrations led by two contestants from Bravo’s Top Chef television show.  Why go?  Because it’s a perfect excuse to wine.

Gaze:  Waterfire on the Mile illuminates the downtown riverfront with a series of wood-fueled bonfires.  Why go?  To get fired-up for a great Saturday night.

Watch:  Outdoor movie fans can catch the Marx Brothers’ classic “Duck Soup,” part of the summer film series at the innovative Bureau for Open Culture art program at CCAD.  The current year-long exhibition, titled “To Whom Do You Beautifully Belong?” follows the life of an under-utilized plot of land in the city (leased for $1).  Why go?  See what rent for a buck gets you these days.

Jam:   PromoWest Productions offers a double-feature on Sunday.  The LC Pavilion welcomes 311 and Snoop Dogg, while the Schott hosts Poison with Dokken and Sebastian Bach.  Why go?  So obvious (pretty blunt…).
