Cocoa Buffs
Did you know that cocoa, from which chocolate is created, is thought to have originated in the Amazon at least 4,000 years ago?
Or that Hernando Cortez, in the late 1520s, discovered that mixing sugar, vanilla and spices to the unsweetened Chocolatl drink consumed by Aztecs and Mayans would turn the beverage into a delicacy reserved for Spanish royalty? (They kept it a secret for over 100 years!)
Or that Americans didn’t enjoy chocolate until 1755?
Well, perhaps it is time to spend less time learning about chocolate and more time tasting it. MJ’s Candy Bar in Dublin can help.
This Friday, February 8th, MJ’s will host a chocolate tasting event at the store from 7 PM to 8 PM. Guests will experience premium chocolates, including Venezuelan style Chuao Chocolate, Divine Chocolate from Germany, as well as Ohio’s own Harry London brand.
The cost is just $5 per person or $8 per couple. Space is limited, so be sure to call to reserve your spot.
While there, be sure to browse the shop’s extensive candy selection - perfect for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. And if you have little ones at home, ask for information about renting the store for a private party. What could be sweeter?
